If you’re reading this and you haven’t read my Age of Ultron trailer breakdown, go do that first. It’s ok. I’ll wait.
You’re back? Good. Now, if you watch that trailer carefully, there’s a moment that I didn’t talk about, and that’s Andy Serkis as that mysterious bearded man. Who was he? That’s hard to say. Marvel won’t say. But he bears a striking resemblance to Black Panther villain Ulysses Klaw. And with the fact that they shot parts of the film in South Africa, and Captain America’s shield broke, it’s likely the Avengers head to the only source of Vibranium in the world: Wakanda.
Serkis, upon joining the cast, was often thought to be only doing mocap work with Mark Ruffalo, to help improve his Hulk. It wasn’t really a thought that he would have a major role of any kind. But after the release of the Age of Ultron trailer, there was a little more to look forward to.
