Probably the BIGGEST news of the year was released today. Marvel’s Phase 3 has been officially announced! Starting off with Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War, followed by Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, and Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, then Captain Marvel, The Inhumans, and Infinity War Part 2.
What else is going on with all this news? Well, Black Panther, portrayed by Chadwick Boseman, will appear in Civil War, which means he probably won’t be in Age of Ultron. Doctor Strange might/will be portrayed by Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch, and will tell the story of a skilled neurosurgeon who destroys his hands in a car accident, and travels the globe seeking ways to fix himself. He becomes the Sorcerer Supreme and will bring the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new direction: The side of Magic (or in this case, really advanced science), and alternate dimensions. Thor: Ragnarok will be the hardest journey for Thor, and will end with the fall of Asgard, and possibly his death (Captain America 2 also ends with Cap’s death, so the theme in Phase 3 is death) and possibly the introduction of Beta Ray Bill or Thunderstrike. Death is often seen as a “character” that Thanos is often trying to court, so perhaps all these deaths will tie into Avengers 3.
But Captain Marvel and The Inhumans appear to take place during the events of the War (between Parts 1 and 2) so perhaps Captain Marvel is a side effect of the war, and the Inhumans (Often living in seclusion from the world) will be brought out of seclusion to help fight the war. Perhaps Skye from Agents of SHIELD will actually be an Inhuman?
