Rudderless

Rudderless

If you listen to our show than you probably know how we love trailers here at Zac and Chuck’s Untitled Podcast. You also probably know that we love movies, and talking about them. But unless you’ve been listening for a while, you might not know that Zac and I have a love for independent films.

Rudderless is a film about a father who loses his son in a horrible accident, but finds a connection to his son through the songs he wrote while he was alive. His father (Billy Crudup) starts playing them live, and a young man (Anton Yelchin) forms a father-son like bond with him that changes his life.

The directoral debut of William H. Macy, this film actually looks fantastic, and the music looks amazing. It was a hit at Sundance, so I can’t wait to see how it does in theaters!

It debuted last night!

Counter-Earth Coming In January!

Counter-Earth Coming In January!

Marvel News is on fire these days with upcoming events and stories, and following the end of Axis in January, a new lineup of the Uncanny Avengers will emerge! Marvel leaked an image and a few teases as to what this story entails:

• From the ashes of AXIS an all-new, all different Avengers assemble!
• The tragedy at the end of AXIS has left the Uncanny Avengers vulnerable, and someone is taking advantage of it.
• One of the Avengers’ oldest foes returns with a terrible secret that will, all hyperbole aside, shatter the lives of two members of the squad.
• What is Counter-Earth? What terrible secrets does it house?

What does all this mean? Good question. As an experienced nerd, let me break it all down for you: The new team? Here’s the skinny:

Veteran Unity Squad members Rogue and the Scarlet Witch appear to lead the team in Havok’s absence (Death? Retirement? Turn to villainy? Who knows?) New members include Scarlet Witch’s brother, Quicksilver (Don’t forget, on the show we mentioned how Marvel teased a Marvel event, “No More Mutants” starring the pair), and her estranged husband, the Vision (Upcoming star of Avengers: Age of Ultron, to be portrayed by Paul Bettany), former Sorcerer Supreme Brother Vodoo, the former Falcon and new Captain America, Sam Wilson, and Sabretooth (Who’s “Axis” was inverted during the battle with the Red Skull, so he’s a hero now), who appears to replace the now dead Wolverine (Yeah, Wolverine is kinda perma-dead for the time being).

Someone taking advantage of the weakened Avengers? Magneto? Baron Zemo? Who knows, but it sounds like it will be fun!

An old foe to shatter the lives of two of the Avengers? Could this be the “No More Mutants” thing that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are to be a part of?

What is Counter-Earth? Counter-Earth could be anything, but since earlier this year Marvel teased yet ANOTHER event where “two worlds collide” and (possibly) could lead up to a complete reboot and renumbering of the whole Marvel line (and that event may tie in with the Secret Wars event that I’ve been so adamant about ranting about), it’s safe to say that this Counter-Earth story could be one of the biggest events in the last decade! Stay tuned!

Planet Hulk Joins The List of Upcoming Marvel Events Revisited

Planet Hulk Joins The List of Upcoming Marvel Events Revisited

Earlier this month Marvel announced a new event for 2015, Secret Wars. Fueling huge speculation on the internet, Secret Wars quickly became the next theory for what Phase 3 of the cinematic universe would be, going as far as saying that it would even include Spider-Man. And what better way to bring two universes together? Secret Wars was an event in the 80s where the Beyonder hand picked a handful out of Marvel’s pantheon of heroes and pitted them against a hand picked crew of villains set outside of Earth’s timetable. Winner takes all.

Seems like a fun movie, right? And who knows, this may even still involve Thanos. Maybe he gathers all the Infinity Gems and sets up the Secret Wars himself? The Beyonder hasn’t been used in a long time, so this would make more sense. But Marvel throws a wrench in that plan by throwing a few more events into the 2015 mix: Civil War, Age Of Ultron Vs. Marvel Zombies, and Years of Future Past, all revisiting previous Marvel events. These were all announced at New York Comic Con last week, but that wasn’t the last tease Marvel gave us. Earlier this week Marvel released an image of possible a cover for Planet Hulk, the event that happened several years ago when the Illuminati (Charles Xavier, Doctor Strange, Namor, Captain America, Tony Stark, Reed Richards, Black Panther, and Black Bolt have all been Illuminati) launch Hulk into space, and he gets stranded on another planet.

This cover however, features many Hulks, and… Captain America with an axe?

This has me stumped. But since Secret Wars was announced to take place across the entirety of Marvel’s Multiverse, perhaps these are all just minor events taking place in the bigger event. And also, since Marvel may be bringing the current universe to a close and starting over with a New 52 styled reboot, this could be the event that tears all of Marvel’s universes apart and starts a new one! There’s really no way to know just yet, but it’s fun to speculate. I can’t wait to see what this brings!

Jena Malone’s Secret Role In Batman v. Superman: The Dawn Of Justice

Jena Malone’s Secret Role In Batman v. Superman: The Dawn Of Justice

Earlier this week Jena Malone’s Instagram revealed her newly dyed hair, and with rumors flying around that she would be in Batman V. Superman, it seems awfully likely she’ll be portraying Carrie Kelly, the young female Robin from the Dark Knight Returns.

On top of that, today multiple sources told The Hollywood Reporter that she does indeed have a role in the film. Malone has a working history with Snyder, having appeared in Suckerpunch, and is likely to actually appear in Batman V. Superman.

But what role would it be? Carrie Kelly, sure, but is it confirmed Robin? Or will it be more likely that she dons the Catgirl tights? We’ll have to wait and see.

Colin Farrell Joins List of Doctor Strange Hopefuls

Colin Farrell Joins List of Doctor Strange Hopefuls

The incredibly long list of actors rumored to be in the running for the lead of Doctor Strange gets continually longer every day. Within the last week the list increased to include Ewan McGregor, Jared Leto, Justin Theroux, Oscar Isaac and others. It appears everyone wants to be in the Marvel fold, seeing how it’s one of the biggest franchises in Hollywood today (and possibly ever).

Colin Farrell joins the list of possibilities, and it looks like the rumor mill won’t be slowing down anytime soon! Joaquin Phoenix and Benedict Cumberbatch are apparently still in the running.
