Movie Trailer Mondays The Last Five Years

Movie Trailer Mondays The Last Five Years

Welcome back to Movie Trailer Mondays! This week we are looking at the full length trailer for The Last Five Years. The film is a musical with both Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan lending their pipes to the film. Now normally a musical wouldn’t pique my interest but its the plot of the film that makes the idea of sitting through two hours of people singing worth it. The film is about a struggling actress who falls in love with a writer, and chronicles the struggles of their relationship. The unique aspect is this: The Last Five Years is told in reverse chronological order. Any time you add an element of time manipulation I am instantly on board. The trailer had just the right mixture of singing and romantic dialogue to win over the female audience, who The Last Five Years is trying to appeal too. Check out the trailer below and let us know if you are secretly hoping your significant other drags you to this movie.

Assassin’s Creed Victory Leak: Where Should Assassin’s Creed Go Next?

Assassin’s Creed Victory Leak: Where Should Assassin’s Creed Go Next?

The location for Assassin’s Creed Victory was leaked by Kotaku, and it’s absolutely glorious: Victorian London. Featured in the game as well, will be 19th century serial killer, Jack the Ripper. Interesting. Was Jack the Ripper a Templar? An Assassin? Neither? It’s interesting to see where they’ll go with this story.

Even better, another Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, is an announced 2.5D (not quite 3D) DLC game that will become available with the Assassin’s Creed Unity season pass.

Where else could they be headed? Assassin’s Creed is showing no signs of slowing down, so where could they go?

1. Japan – An Assassin’s Creed game set in Japan has been one of the most popular locales asked for by fans. With the recent missteps taken with recent titles, it would make sense to listen to fans. This game would have to take place over multiple eras of Japan’s history. With Japanese culture taking such a unique stance on honoring ancestors and your family, a Japanese Assassin’s Creed game would have to start in the modern day and work backwards farther in time. It could start with a modern Assassin and tell his story, going from the modern age back through several periods, tying each individual ancestor’s story together, working back to the dawn of the first Japanese “Assassin.”

2. Brazil – I can’t admit to knowing much about Brazilian history, but from what I’ve read, the Brazilian war of Independence is interesting enough to tell an Assassin’s Creed story. The War of Independence between Brazil and Portugal would be a lot like Assassin’s Creed 3– Naval battles! I had an idea for a story that would make sense, and line up a sequel. Portugal’s forces would be led by the Assassin’s, and the Brazilian forces manipulated by foreign Templars. The Templars win the war, and Portugal turns it’s attention away from Brazil and toward their other prospects: Africa (Angola and Mozambique, specifically.)

3. The Great Depression (USA) – The story behind that fateful day when the stock market crashed could be a Templar Plot. What better back story for the rise of Abstergo then the Great Depression? With the market crash, the Templars who would form Abstergo come into possession of many important companies, and roll them into one. It would be an interesting story, and Assassin’s Creed could start utilizing modern travel (cars, buses) to travel through multiple parts of the country to tell different stories all at once. The Assassin in the story could be a young kid, whose unemployed father couldn’t take care of him, so he sends him away to his rich uncle’s– a Templar. His uncle teaches him everything he knows, but abuses the boy. The boy dreams of escape, but has no way out. He’s rescued by a female Assassin (c’mon Ubisoft, here’s your chance to make up for lost time), and she adopts him. Also, you could replace ships with early cars (they’re pretty slow at this time, though) and early planes (you know you want to see parachute kills. The “mom” could have been pretending to be a man and trained to be a pilot in World War I).

4. Scandinavia – One word: VIKINGS. Sailing has been a huge hit with the franchise, and is now a staple.  Imagine being able to sail the Scandinavian coastline, pillaging villages and being a freaking VIKING. I don’t know how you could tie that in with Assassin’s Creed, and I don’t care, I just want to be a viking!

5. The Wild West (Mexico/US) – With the plot of Assassin’s Creed usually involving some ancient artifact being sought out by Templars, this game could see the ancestors of prior Assassin’s Creed characters exploring the west, looking for the object before the other side gets it, typical Assassin’s Creed style. This one could feature covered wagons, hunting, and basically be Oregon Trail with Assassins. Now that I’ve said that, you know you kinda want to see that. At least a little bit.

The Video Game Awards 2014 And PSX

The Video Game Awards 2014 And PSX

Quick rundown of the 2014 Video Game Awards:

1. Arkham Knight should have gotten most anticipated game of the year, not Witcher 3. Heck, even Uncharted 4 should have gotten it first.

2. Why was Hearthstone nominated for Game of the Year? Good thing Dragon Age: Inquisition got it. The game is sick. The game sports over a dozen of the biggest maps (Overall, the game dwarfs the Elder Scrolls games for best RPGs), and over 200 hours of gameplay to complete, the game earned the award. EARNED IT.

3. Nintendo, finally getting some recognition again, by winning Developer of the year! With Mario Kart 8, Wind Waker HD, and all the other top-tier games this year, it’s about time someone showed them some love again, especially going up against Blizzard, Telltale, Monolith, and Ubisoft Montreal. The only company that should have any claim to developer of the year on that list, is Blizzard, with Hearthstone and Diablo III. Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs should win for glitchiest game of the year, and the Assassin’s Creed titles should win for “Worst Sequels Ever.” Call it a day on that franchise, guys. It’s dead.

4. With South Park: The Stick of Truth being nominated for Best Narrative, you know the competition is stiff. Two (count em two!) Telltale Games made the cut in this category as well, with The Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead Season 2. It took a game I had never heard of, Valiant Hearts: The Great War to take that category. From what I’ve seen of the game, it deserves the award. I’m glad to see such an interesting title win an award. The game is inspired by letters written during the Great War and has four characters on the battlefield help a young German soldier find his love in this story about survival, sacrifice and friendship. Sounds like an interesting narrative to me!

5. Trey Parker, we’re calling this a miracle. Either that or you sold your soul to beat out Troy Baker and Kevin Spacey, for Best Performance. How did you do it? You beat an Oscar award winning actor in the Performance department. Congratulations, sir, you just blew my mind.

6. Far Cry 4 stole best shooter (it was the amount of nudity in the game, I can just feel it). With Wolfenstein, Call of Duty, Titanfall, and Destiny as your competition, Far Cry 4 beat some stiff competition. The games in the category are all highly regarded in the genre, and I’m glad Far Cry got it over Call of Duty.

7. “Best Remaster” is a category I think shouldn’t exist. Giving props to a company for re-releasing your game? On top of that GTA V topped Pokemon: Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, The Last of Us Remastered, The Master Chief Collection and Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. With Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire being almost an entirely new game, and The Last of Us being one of the best games ever, I’m very surprised GTA won.

gtavThere’s plenty more I could rant about, but I won’t submit you to that. For a full list of nominees and awards, you can just head see them here.

 Playstation X/Video Game Awards Trailers

The most disappointment the internet has felt since… probably ever. Not a remake, Final Fantasy VII on PS4 is a port of the PC version.

This game looks beautiful. I’d love to get my hands on it.

These are some pretty disappointing trailers to come from Sony’s Playstation X. Did the Video game awards get all the good trailers? Let’s see:

So far, yes.

These were the ones that I thought were the best. There were more, but mainly for games that have had a huge following, multiple trailers released, etc. Can’t wait to get my hands on a few of these!

Arkham Knight Ace Chemicals Infiltration, DLC News, and– The Arkham Knight Identity Revealed? [Spoiler Alert]

Arkham Knight Ace Chemicals Infiltration, DLC News, and– The Arkham Knight Identity Revealed? [Spoiler Alert]

Batman: Arkham Knight is one of the most anticipated games of 2015 (and after it got pushed back a few times, rightfully so). They keep teasing us with this amazing game! The more I see the more I get excited. The videos above display seamless integration of the batmobile into core gameplay, rather than just transportation (take that, Arkham Origins!). The character rendering looks ridiculously good, and the gameplay looks like it’s going to be a really, really good time. I can’t wait to see more! And if you own a PS4, you’re going to get exclusive Scarecrow Nightmare Missions.

The PS4 is getting an exclusive DLC Scarecrow Nightmare Mission, and instead of being a simple challenge map pack, there’s an actual story (possibly extending the storyline of the game) that features Batmobile utilization, an army of the undead, and fighting the Scarecrow himself. Heck yes.

The Red Hood will also make an appearance as a playable character, thanks to more DLC. Normally I complain about DLC being a paid extension to an “unfinished game,” but I usually let the Batman DLC slide. It’s usually a ton of fun. I hope this time it’s a success, rather than the glitchy disaster that was Arkham Origins (I pre-ordered for the Deathstroke DLC, and it wouldn’t let me download it. My unopened game came with a code that was already used, and Warner Bros. wouldn’t do anything about it.)

With that said, the identity of the long since mysterious Arkham Knight possibly has been revealed on 4Chan.

Are you sure you want to know?

The rumor is that the Arkham Knight is a clone of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul from the end of Arkham City. The clone, designate E-11, is evidence that he’s not the first attempt at recreating the Batman. This also wouldn’t be the first time Amanda Waller has tried to clone Bruce. Terry McGinnis, of Batman Beyond, is actually Bruce’s biological “son,” created by Amanda Waller. She really has a thing for recreating Batman. She wants a Batman that she can control. The Knight was grown using an accelerating growth hormone, derived from Titan. The rumor also indicated that the story would see the Arkham Knight growing jealous of Robin and Nightwing, after keeping tabs on them.

The game is also rumored (thanks to the aforementioned 4Chan user) to feature Deathstroke and the Suicide Squad, made up of a maskless Deathstroke, Deadshot, Lynx and Bane. The squad is led by Arkham Knight, and their goal is to replace Bruce with a more militarized Batman to defend the increasingly more violent and out of control Gotham. The Suicide Squad has their typical bombs installed, but this time they all die if Arkham Knight dies, or if they fail. The mission? Keep Arkham Knight alive and replace Bruce with the Arkham Knight, but unbeknownst to the team, Waller plans on detonating them all anyways, once her goal is met and her tracks are covered.

Scarecrow is being funded by Waller through third party sources to unleash his fear upon Gotham, to clear the city of civilians, for minimal casualties and witnesses.

Side missions include (fewer) Riddler trophies, although they are much more difficult to attain this time, Hush, Two-Face, Penguin, and other mainstays, Man-Bat makes his Arkham debut, etc.

Robin, Nightwing, the Red Hood, and Catwoman, all have playable DLC.

Balancing The Force

Balancing The Force

At the end of The Empire Strikes Back, Luke’s right hand was cut off by Darth Vader during their duel on Bespin. Shortly after, it is replaced by a cybernetic prosthesis that looks, on the surface, identical to a real hand. Symbolically, however, Luke’s prosthesis moves him one step closer to being like Vader, his father. Vader, a full-fledged hybrid of man and machine, is one of the directions Luke can move to in his life. His two father figures, Obi Wan and Darth Vader, both displayed far different ideals and possible outcomes of Luke’s journey. Could Luke be headed on a path to the Dark Side? Or is he destined to be the good guy? In the prequels it’s thought that Anakin would bring balance to the force, but I firmly believe that prophecy referred to his son. Luke is going to be the perfect balance of good and evil displayed to him by his two father figures, and will be neither the true good or true evil. I think balance is the center, not picking a side. This is where I can see Episode VII going. Instead of picking up with Luke as a long standing hero, he might just be in between, having seen both sides of the force as possible sources of Good, the force can’t be defined in black and white terms. The force just is.

The Force, The Fall & The Father

Return of the Jedi continues the story of Luke’s path by showing us his hand when it is damaged during the fight on Jabba’s barge. Rather than fixing or replacing the hand, Luke simply pulls a black glove over it. From that moment on, we see that Luke might have just made one step closer to his father. Luke later would cut off his fathers own right hand, in the climax of Return of the Jedi. Vader cries out, but not flesh was harmed, but circuits and wires. Luke looks in horror at his own right hand and back to his father, making the connection once again and realizing that he too has the capacity within him to turn to the dark side. Luke sees this, and instead of taking revenge, he helps his father. He sees the good still in him. Vader didn’t die a heroic Jedi Knight, but a good Sith. I think what Star Wars has been missing is the fact that the Sith aren’t necessarily inherently evil, but different. They war with the Jedi who have within them the power to do terrible things. I think neither side can be defined in simple terms, and the balance Luke seeks is in reconciling the two. This would make a lot of sense to me.What do you guys think? Should the Jedi and the Sith remain forever the epitomes of good and evil? Or are both sides potentially the same, just different perspectives? Will Luke balance the two and bring balance to the force? Let me know in the comments what you think!
The Future Of Marvel’s Netflix Deal

The Future Of Marvel’s Netflix Deal

This could be Marvel’s big “in” to the Horror Genre. They could essentially have a foot in the door for any genre they want. They could do a Howling Commandos series at some point, for the WWII guys, and no one would even notice that it’s Marvel. They can do anything they want at this point. With the films being broken into phases, I’d like to see more Netflix Series’ get at least soft announcements, pending the popularity of The Defenders. More heroes over more time! But who would make sense? Well, if the first phase is The Defenders, I’d like to see the next set be loosely based on Midnight Sons, the team would actually consist of a a couple teams and others:

1. Werewolf By Night: Launch this series around Halloween. The story could follow Jack Russell and his adaptation to the werewolf lifestyle, and eventually would see him defending his neighborhood from supernatural attacks. Defending only does so much, however. Jack notices a high level of Vampire activity, and tries to stop it. His powers dwindle as the days go on. With no full moon, how can a werewolf keep his powers? And who’s behind everything? Dracula could be pulling the strings, but Jack would be mistaken by attacking someone else…

WEREWOLF BY NIGHT by knockmesilly

2. Morbius the Living Vampire: Michael Morbius was a Nobel Prize winning biochemist, and he attempted to treat himself for a rare blood disease using vampire bats. The treatment had some side effects, turning Morbius into the Living Vampire! Jack would attack Morbius, mistaking him as the source of all his problems. Jack didn’t stand a chance against Morbius, without transforming. Luckily, Morbius isn’t the bad guy. He’s trying to stop it just as much as Jack is! Morbius would fight his way across New York to stop Dracula, but he was too weak. Captured by the vampire, Jack has to look for help…

2. Blade:
What’s a horror story without the hero? This guy is one of Marvel’s most well known horror characters, having had 3 films and a short lived TV series. He’d fit well on Netflix, and the show would be huge. Jack Russell tracked down Blade, and tried to get his help to stop Dracula and save Morbius. Dracula is too strong for Blade, and Blade spends most of the story trying to kill Dracula, but his army of vampires is unbeatable! Blade would need to recruit… The Nightstalkers! Blade and the Nightstalkers finally defeat Dracula and his minions, but the supernatural is now making the news. With Dracula gone, the evil terrorizing New York wasn’t finished. There was someone else behind it. And with that news comes a fiery Spirit of Vengeance…

4. Spirits of Vengeance: This show would feature not one, but two Spirits of Vengeance. Johnny Blaze was the first Ghost Rider, the Spirit of Vengeance. After Danny became the Ghost Rider, Blaze attacks him with nothing but his shotgun and regains some of his powers over hellfire. The two men team up to fight evil. They are chasing Deathwatch, a demon posing as a crime boss in New York, and the source of all the supernatural happenings in the city. The Spirits of Vengeance attempt to take down the demon, but are defeated. Deathwatch has built an army of vampires and demons in New York, and Ghost Rider and Johnny Blaze aren’t enough to stop them.

5. Midnight Sons: Ghost Rider and Johnny Blaze turn to Morbius, Blade, and Werewolf by Night for help. Blade and the Nightstalkers, Werewolf by Night, and Morbius all team up with the Spirits of Vengeance to put a stop to Deathwatch. It would be revealed that Deathwatch is in possession of the Darkhold, which is the source of his power. Destroying this would put a stop to his nonsense! This would be the Rise of the Midnight Sons.

There’s so many characters I’d love to see in this set of series’. Man-Thing, Scarlet Witch, and Doctor Strange, just being a few. There are so many ways to write this, how can they not do it? Here’s hoping they do. Let us know what you want to see in the comments!
